The new Booths supermarket officially opened this morning and not to feel left out after my lovely daughter’s invitation to the launch party last night I was there at 10 am to watch the proceedings.

Mr Booth arrived in a vintage branded horse drawn cart and spent time chatting to local residents before performing the opening ceremony. He welcomed 103 year old local resident Lillian Barrow, a lifelong customer, with a bouquet of flowers and a bar of dark chocolate, which along with determination, she cites as the secret of her longevity.

The supermarket is a welcome addition to the existing stores in the area and I’m looking forward to shopping there!

We decided to take a trip out to Port Sunlight over the Easter break. I’ve been wanting to visit for ages and have never been before despite it not being too far from here. The garden village was built at the end of the 19th century for the workers at the nearby Lever factory and was the work of over 30 architects. I didn’t know what to expect but it was a lovely sunny day and I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the village and the various styles of architecture.
